Mildred “Millie” Baltes, 82, of Lincoln, passed away Sunday, July 4, 2010 at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital surrounded by her family after a six month battle with pneumonia and congestive heart failure.
Mildred was born on July 9, 1927 in Gurley, Nebraska the daughter of Frank and Julia ((Reines) Dickes and was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School in Sidney, Nebraska. At the age of 52, she established her first career as being a CMA and floor supervisor at Milder Manor in Lincoln. Mildred enjoyed taking care of elderly individuals for 12 years earning a variety of honors including the first employee of the month award. Millie was united in marriage on November 13, 1958 to Victor H. Baltes on a mountainside in Estes Park, Colorado and later validating that marriage at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ on August 15, 1998. Mildred truly loved her home. Millie leaves behind her beloved doll faced Chihuahua “Tipsy” and will have her deceased Buffy and Hope inurned with her.
Survivors include her husband Victor H. Baltes and sons Todd (Vicki) Baltes, Stephen Baltes, daughter Julie (Rob) Huntwork all of Lincoln and Pamela (Donnie) Lonsdale of Kimball, NE; six grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; sister Viola Christensen of Sidney, NE; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, two brothers, and sons Dr. Douglas Baltes and Frank Harold Baltes.
A private family service will take place on Friday, July 9, 2010, there will be no visitation.
