Jeff and his family moved to Colorado when he was a young boy, and then moved back to Malcolm, Nebraska when he was in middle school.
Jeff enjoyed working on his grandparents farm in Wilber. He learned how to become a handyman tinkering with things on the farm. He spent his summers there working alongside his “Gramps.” Jeff graduated from Malcolm High school where he was very talented in sports and enjoyed playing football and basketball. He was offered scholarships in both sports. He went to school at McCook college to play basketball.
Jeff was extremely handy; he was constantly doing home improvement projects for friends and family. He loved to help people whenever he could. He entered Paula and Haley’s life when Haley was five and soon they became a family. A few years later Michael Jeffrey entered the world. Jeff loved to be a dad to Haley and Michael. As time went on he fell in love with an old childhood friend Theresa. The two have been together since.
When his son Michael went to be with Jesus, Jeff struggled, but his granddaughter June kept him going. Jeff loved to be with his family. He loved the children in his life. He was a great Papa, Uncle, Dad, Godfather, and cousin. You could always count on Jeff for a sarcastic remark, and he had a great sense of humor. You knew you could count on him. Jeff touched the lives of many and will truly be missed by all.
He is survived by his fiance Theresa Patzel; mother and father John and Diana Spellman; Daughter Haley Gillett (Josh); Grandchildren June and Jett Gillett; Brother Kelly Spellman(Amy) and nephew Holdin; Brother Corey Blakemore (Melissa), nephews Kaleb, John, and niece Madisyn; Godchildren Presley and Gracie Jakoubek.
