“For we walk by faith, and not by sight” 2 Corinthians 5:7. Floyd will be missed by many, but his memory will live forever by the person that he was. When I think of him, I think of a man who always had a smile(grin) on his face, a man who always had something uplifting to say, and mostly a man who dearly loved his family. I loved his sense of humor, as he was always one step ahead of everyone when he talked. His love for the New York Yankees cannot be denied and the bible verse above is from one of the long line of Yankee greats, Aaron Judge. Aaron said, “I try to live my life by it, and always trust in the Man above and what He’s got in store for us. We never know what’s around the corner, but if we have faith in Him, He will lead us in the right direction”. Fran, Charlie, and Mick, I pray that time will heal. Your husband and father will always be a fond memory of mine.

What a shock to learn of Floyd’s passing; he was a good friend for many years. He was the consummate Yankee fan who led our fan club perfectly in bringing in Ralph Terry and Bob Cerv; former great Yankees in the 60’s. Our love goes out to Fran and the family, and may God comfort you in this difficult time.

Charlie — so sorry to hear about your dad. I never saw him without a smile on his face and upbeat words to share. He was quite an inspiration to all.

I’m saddened to hear of Floyd’s passing, and my heart goes out to Fran, Charlie, Mickey and their families with my most sincere sympathies. Floyd dedicated his life to others and his daily pursuit of making people feel the best they could about themselves. That started with his infectious smile (see memorial photo) and genuine raucous greeting he shared with you. But, none were more important than his own family. From the way he respected his parents, to him doting over Fran and his boys, it was crystal clear that Floyd loved his family with his every fiber. I pray the memories of him, as well as his personal legacy are particularly comforting to you now and going forward. #Pelota Much love and respect.

Floyd was a wonderful high school classmate of mine, and to many others! I first met Floyd in 1954 when we both attended 10th grade at Lincoln Northeast High School. I witnessed many times the acts of kindness and thoughtfulness that he gave to others – including myself. He was so involved in our many Class of 1957 reunions, serving on the planning committee, and, as the spokesman at the reunions. He always performed that job so well, always making everyone feel so welcome, saying the proper things in such a thoughtful way, and always combining a dose of humor in his remarks, and, recognizing the blessings that the good Lord had given to us. I greatly appreciated Floyd’s remarks at one of our earlier reunions for the kindness that he expressed to me. I, and many others will miss him. My sincere condolences to his lovely family. May he rest in peace.

Floyd and the Colon family have been important to me, beginning with his dad, Vince. I first knew Vince and Floyd plus his brother Frank at Nebraska Wesleyan. I was a colleague with his son, Charlie, at Gallup. Floyd was a very good man who will be missed, certainty by his family, but by me and the Lincoln community to which he made so many contributions. I send my thoughts and best wishes to Charlie and the Colon family.

I grew up across the street from the Colons! So thankful for memories of Floyd’s parents and Floyd and his family. I was too young to cross the street alone so we waved a lot! Look forward to seeing Floyd down the road!

Floyd was a regular speaker to my business classes at Lincoln Southwest High School. He was captivating in his manner and motivating to the kids. I listened to his presentation numerous times and never tired of hearing his story and his advice. By far the most popular guest I ever had for my students. Man of honor, integrity, passion and love of life. He always appeared happy and positive. May the many fond memories of him begin to heal the hole in the hearts of his family—- he has left a wonderful legacy🙏❤️
