Marvin L. Lyman

December 8, 1931 - November 25, 2022

Marvin L. Lyman, 90, of Lincoln died November 24, 2022.

Marvin was raised in Oakland, Iowa and graduated from Oakland High School and the University of Iowa. He participated in ROTC and served active duty in the Air Force from 1953-1956. He worked in the insurance business for over 30 years and was a founding partner in UNICO Insurance.

He married his wife, June, in 1957 and they had three children, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He loved everything about the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, landscaping, and golfing. He was a member of Sertoma where he was Sertoman of the Year, Eastridge Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder, and an avid supporter of the NWTF.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, June, and his brother, Loren.

He is survived by son Matthew (Anna), daughters Lori Snyder-Sloan (Jon), Julie Nelson (Chris); grandchildren Jacob and April Lyman, Kelly Bolin (Andrew), Noah Mackeprang, Melanie (Aaron) Blevins, Mitchell (Kaila) Snyder, Grant Nelson, sister-in-laws Lois Ann Buckingham and Gloria Lyman, and brother-in-law Donald Schoening.

Family will greet friends Thursday, December 8, 2022, from 5-7 pm at Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Dr.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2022, at Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel.

Memorials are suggested to Bryan Hospital School of Nursing, Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education, or Saint Elizabeth Foundation.
