Obituary

Charles Edward Duncan

February 5, 1936 - November 21, 2022

Charles (Chuck or Charlie) Duncan passed away at the age of 86 on Monday, November 21, 2022, at Bryan Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. Chuck was born February 5, 1936, in Nebraska City.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul rest in peace. Amen.

Requiem Prayer

In Chuck’s final days, he was surrounded by his wife and children, whom he adored more than anything else in the world.

Chuck was a kind and loving husband to his wife, Barbara, as well as an amazing father to their children, Patty Reinhardt (Mark), Penny Asher (Keith) and Bill Duncan (Desiree). Chuck was also blessed with 9 grandchildren, Josh, Audrey, Jackson, Madeline, Sydney, Sam, Samantha, Spencer and Skylar as well as 4 great-grandchildren, Hudson, Barrett, Claire and Callum. He was also an uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Chuck married Barbara Story on August 27, 1961. In the early years of their marriage, he drove and delivered propane to local farmers in and around Nebraska City. After relocating his young family to Lincoln, he worked at Goodyear for 30 years.

Chuck was a member of Capitol City Christian Church where he was a faithful member for 44 years.

One of Chuck’s biggest accomplishments was being a father. He was always available to his family and taught them to enjoy what life has to offer. Chuck was a skilled handyman, woodworker and crafter and the family has been left with many of his creations, which will become family heirlooms.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Duncan, brother and sister-in-law Jack and Virginia Duncan, brother Robert Duncan, and sister Wilma. Also, preceded in death by in-laws Dick and Audrey Story.
Chuck was an honest and kind man, and that’s exactly how he chose to live his life. He will be missed deeply by his family and his friends.

The family held a private burial on Thursday, December 1st, in Nebraska City.

There will be a Celebration of Life at Capitol City Christian Church on Friday, December 2nd, at 11:00 with a luncheon to follow.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul rest in peace. Amen.

Chuck, or Chuckles, as I called him, has been a family friend since my dad and Chuck started working at Goodyear. He was a very talented craftsman and always willing to help out a friend. I will miss his voice and his smile. My prayers and thoughts are with Chuck and family. Bless his Heart

I have a lot of fond memories of Uncle Charlie, like watching and waiting for him to walk across the road (at Grandma Duncan’s house) from working at the feed lot, running out to meet his propane truck at our house (so I could get a piece of gum), but most of all helping him wash and polish his cherished ’58 Ford car. I’m sure I was a pain in his butt, but he never showed it.
