Rose grew up on a farm with her two brothers and three sisters. Rose went to Friend High School where she participated in theater, choir, pep club, and a member of the yearbook club. Rose was also a high school cheerleader and homecoming queen. After graduation, Rose moved to Lincoln to work for the Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph Company as a Switchboard Operator. A few years later, Rose started work at Dorsey Sandoz as a Packaging Operator where she met her husband, Richard. The two were married on September 19, 1959 and welcomed their daughter Cheryl (Shari) five years later. Rose worked at Dorsey for almost 40 years. Rose and Richard were married for 51 years until Richard passed in 2010.
Rose enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, and listening to the birds. Rose was a talented painter and played the accordion. Richard and Rose would frequent the casinos where Rose had all the luck at the slot machines. Big Money! Rose was an avid viewer of Wheel of Fortune and The Bachelor. Rose loved shopping especially for her grandchildren. Rose was a member of The Way of Holiness Church. Rose enjoyed spending time with her family, church friends, and her precious dog Henry. Rose took pride in her titles as wife, mom, and grandma. One of Rose’s most precious gifts in this world was the love and pride she had for her daughter, and the bond she had with her grandchildren.
Family members include her daughter Cheryl (Peter) Eppens; grandchildren Ashley Eppens (Eddy Hernandez) and Nathaniel (Kylee) Eppens; great-grandson Theodore Eppens, all of Lincoln; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents William & Mary Sladek; husband Richard Pierson; siblings Ann, Jerry, Mayme, Velma, & Bill Sladek; niece Kathy Sladek and nephew Rex Sladek.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2022, Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street. Pastor Peter Eppens officiating.
