Ron grew up in Broken Bow, Nebraska and cherished his time there. In those days he grew his musical talents for keyboards and playing the trombone and formed the basis of lifelong friendships with many special people. In 1963 he met the love of his life Valery while doing his residency in Waterloo, Iowa, and they were married October 12, 1963.
A graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Washington University in St Louis, he will be forever grateful for his Kappa Sigma connections that led him to a 40-year career as a vice president at Bryan Hospital, much of which he spent overseeing construction projects and growing the hospital into the state-of-the-art facility it is today.
Ron loved Husker sports and spending time with family. Ron and Valery have two sons, Allen and Eric. He was a dedicated father, always present for every sporting event his boys were in and made sure the family had season tickets to Husker football, basketball, and volleyball.
Ron also loved a project… from woodworking to landscaping to interior design projects. And he was an active member of many organizations. He was a Kappa Sigma fraternity member, a 50-year Elks Club member, Shriner, and most recently served as the president of the Westminster Church Foundation.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Valery, and sons Allen and Eric.
