Roy William Schmidt, 99, of Lincoln peacefully passed away April 29, 2022. Born March 14, 1923, in Browns, IL to Edwin and Clara Schmidt.

Roy was a farmer, then a sales representative for the Police Officers Association. He restored vintage cars, player pianos, and made reproductions of Diamond T truck parts.

Family members include his son Charles Schmidt, Lincoln; daughter Peggy (Michael) Mathews, Appleton, WI; sister-in-law Dorothy Schmidt, Loveland, CO. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary “Jeannette”, son Mark Schmidt, stepbrother Robert Schmidt and stepsister Maxine Oaks.

Visitation with family present will be from 3-5 p.m.

Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Roper and Sons Midtown, 4300 ‘O’ Street.

My deepest condolences. Though I didn’t know the family well, both Roy and Jeannette always welcomed me at their home when I was visiting with Gail, and later even after Roy was on his own, he never failed to make me feel completely welcome. He had a strong soul and I know his strength helped everyone through the more difficult times. My sincerest wish for comfort and peace to all the family.

I have always been grateful for Roy’s strong presence when Mark passed and during those months following. He no doubt was grieving as well yet kept Jeannette and I going. I definitely felt drawn to him.
