Obituary

Carly M. Schaaf

April 7, 1998 - June 10, 2021

Carly M. Schaaf

Carly Meree Schaaf, 23, passed away in late spring of 2021.   She was born April 7, 1998 in Lincoln, NE to Shari and David Schaaf.  Carly lived an carefree, adventurous and passionate life surrounded in love.   She held her immediate family, extended family and dear friends close to her heart.  She was adored and loved by all in return.  Many who knew her from the beginning would describe her as an old soul. She had an understanding, curiosity, and deep awareness of the world around her.  With this awareness she was able to laugh and find humor in herself and others.  Her laugh was rich and contagious.  It is her laughter that will remain in our hearts forever.

She was an animal lover, especially of her dogs and found joy in their companionship.  Carly loved books and was an avid reader from an early age.  She loved children and had a natural and easy rapport with babies and toddlers.

Carly was raised in a home where food was the language of love.  She enjoyed cooking and could throw together an amazing meal with creativity; her mind and soul thrived in the kitchen.

She spent a lot of her childhood at both grandparents’ cabins on the lakes with her family and friends. Christmas was also very special, since it meant spending time with those closest to her.  Even though she was most comfortable at home, sometimes described as a homebody, she did travel to a variety of states in her quest to experience life to its fullest.

Carly is survived by her parents David and Shari Schaaf; her sister Kayla Schaaf; her grandparents Connie Yost, Juris and Marlene Tontegode, Susan Schaaf, and Jane Cotton; aunts and uncles, Amee Tontegode, Linda Danenger, Mike and Patty Schaaf, Daniel and Debbie Schaaf, Lisa and Mike Cvitak, Anton Yost, Holly Yost, and Jason Yost, her love Cheyenne Kann and his family and many dear cousins, extended family and close friends.

She was preceded in death by grandfathers Richard Schaaf, Bernie Yost and Don Cotton; uncle Jason Tontegode,

With sadness in our hearts, we are aware that Carly left this earth too suddenly.  With this, we are all also aware that she will be forever young and always dancing in the moonlight.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00PM on Friday, June 18th at Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Dr. in Lincoln.

Memorials to the family (in care of Roper and Sons) for future designation.
