Obituary

Brent D. Anderson

February 10, 1967 - October 26, 2018

Brent D. Anderson was born February 10, 1967, to Vernon C. and Dorothy C. Anderson. He grew up in Lincoln, NE, with his younger sister Kimberly. He attended Southeast High School, played trumpet in the marching band and was active in Junior Achievement.

He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he was a member of Chi Phi Fraternity and served as Rush Chairman. He was active in the business fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi, later serving as President. Brent graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and a minor in French.

It was at UNL that Brent met his wife of 28 years, Clarice. They were married on January 6, 1990. Shortly after the wedding, Brent started his career with Maytag Appliance Corporation. The newlyweds spent their first few married years moving around the country for Maytag. They lived in Newton, IA, then San Francisco, then Los Angeles, back to Newton, then New Orleans, and in 1996 they landed back in Newton at Maytag headquarters. His career with Maytag, then Whirlpool, was filled with many notable accomplishments and milestone achievements. In 2006, the family relocated to Lincoln. It was in Newton that Brent and Clarice were blessed with two children, Ashley and Austin. Brent was very proud of both his children in all of their school, musical, and sports accomplishments. He was so proud of the young woman and young man each had become.

Over the years, Brent developed a love of acquiring antiques and interesting collectibles. He loved working on his Model T car and other treasures like the antique barbershop chairs, the Gene Autry electric horse ride, and a collection of Nebraska license plates from the early 1900’s. Many special memories centered around the family’s cabin, Anderson’s Nook, at Lake Ponderosa, where Brent and Clarice generously hosted friends and family for the 4th of July and other summer fun. Brent loved traveling and took his family on many vacation adventures. The most recent trip was to the Grand Canyon – where he treated them to a thrilling helicopter ride over the canyon. He had a great sense of humor, loved 80’s music, could speak to any topic, and never met a stranger. Those who knew and loved Brent will forever miss his laugh, his engaging personality and kind, generous nature.

The family will greet friends beginning 5:30 pm Tuesday, Oct. 30 with Rosary at 7 pm at Roper and Sons Funeral Home-South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee (40th & Yankee Hill).

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, Oct. 31, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 7900 Trendwood Dr.

Memorials: Food Bank of Lincoln – Backpack program or Capital Humane Society.
