Virginia H. Stryker of Lincoln, NE passed away on Thursday March 29th 2018. Virginia began her life in Scottsbluff, NE on October 17, 1930. She was born to Josephine Anna and Carl Stryker. She graduated high school in Mitchell, NE with honors and then went on to attend University of Nebraska at Lincoln from 1948-1952. She was hired by Baxter Pharmaceuticals where she did medical research and worked on synthesizing medications that are still used today. She moved to Evanston, IL where she attended The Graduate School of Northwestern University. She worked in the science lab working hands on with Northwestern students.
Virginia moved to Lincoln in 1987. She initially worked at the University of Nebraska Beadle Center as a research chemist. After her retirement she became a volunteer at the Lincoln Police department. She remained active intellectually, and she loved to read about a wide variety of subjects.
Virginia always wanted to contribute as a useful member of the community and to help others wherever she could. She was an exemplary daughter, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor. Virginia will be remembered as a person with a pure heart.
She is proceeded in death by her sister Mary Lou and is survived by her sisters Bonnie White and Edyth Tedefalk, her brother Ernie Stryker, her nieces nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday April 4th 2018 at 11am at Roper and Sons Chapel 4300 O street Lincoln, NE.
