Bill was born to William and Mildred Blanche (Stejskal) Tesar in Geneva, NE.
Bill learned to fly while attending the University of Nebraska. He soloed at age 18 and continued to earn additional ratings. Bill was employed as a charter pilot and flight instructor for many years which lead to positions as Chief Pilot, Chief Flight Instructor, and Director of Flight Operations for different companies. The FAA designated Bill as a pilot examiner. Bill developed and taught evening ground school classes in Lincoln Southeast Community College for 15 years. The last 10 years of his aviation career, he was a Pilot and Aviation Specialist for the State of Nebraska piloting state aircraft, transporting state officials, inspecting Nebraska airports for certification and safety, and the certification of Nebraska agricultural pilots. He received numerous citations from national aviation organizations for an accident free flying career. He retired in 1999.
Bill also enlisted in the Air National Guard in 1961 and retired after 23 years of military service. Of those 23 years, 9 years were full time and the balance in weekend reserve status. He attended the USAF Air University and graduated from the Air Force NCO Academy.
On May 8, 1971, Bill married Carol J Schroeder and they celebrated 48 years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by parents Bill and Mildred, parents-in-laws Frank and Emilie Schroeder, and brother-in-laws Pastor Howard Schroeder and Walter Oleksinski.
Bill is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Cindy Crawford and son-in-law Frankie Crawford, granddaughter Madison Benham (Crawford) and husband Job Benham and great-grandson Brody Benham and grandson Blake Crawford, all of Oklahoma City. Sister-in-law Marilyn Schroeder of Colorado Springs, CO, brother-in-law Dennis Schroeder and wife Susan of Beatrice, NE, sister-in-law Jan Schroeder of Aurora, CO and also nephews and niece.
