Waymond Douglas Rohrer

August 1, 1953 - January 17, 2019

Waymond Douglas Rohrer

Waymond Douglas Rohrer “Doug”, 65, was born in Norfolk, Nebraska on August 1, 1953 at our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He passed away January 17 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was the third child of Waymond C. and Luella (Jo) (Sparr) Rohrer, both of whom predeceased him. He graduated from Norfolk Senior High School in 1972.

Doug’s life was challenging but he was a gentle man who loved and was loved by family, his friends at Easterday Recreation Adult Day Services, Community Services of Lincoln as well as the wonderful staff at those facilities and Madonna Transportation Services. He was a fifty-year ardent Beatles fan; he enjoyed stamp collecting which was his favorite activity at adult day services; and his second favorite activity was swimming. Douglas enjoyed fishing near Casper, Wyoming and a day never went by that he did not work word search puzzles. His wry sense of humor showed that he enjoyed and appreciated each and every day.

He is survived by his sister, Jo Beth and brother-in-law, Steven Haack; his sister, Kathryn and brother-in-law, Randy Bjorklund; nephews, Michael Bjorklund (Jayme), Joshua Douglas Bjorklund, Jared Bjorklund (Tami) and Benjamin John Mark Bjorklund (Angie); aunt and uncle, Donna Faye and Charles Dahl (Sparr); aunt, Theresa Sparr as well as eight great nieces and nephews and many, many cousins. He was predeceased by a nephew, Eric Gene Bjorklund.

Memorials may be given to Easterday Recreation Center, Lincoln, Nebraska, Lincoln Fire and Rescue, the Lincoln Police Department or Trinity Episcopal Church, Norfolk, Nebraska.

A celebration of Doug’s life will be held in the early summer in Norfolk.
