Tyne Banks O’Keeffe

September 25, 1956 - January 11, 2020

Tyne Banks O'Keeffe

Tyne Banks O’Keeffe, was born in Peoria, Illinois September 25th, 1956 and passed away peacefully on January 11th, 2020 in her home.

Tyne was a free spirit and often expressed herself through her art and writing. Tyne had such a passion for art, she earned her bachelors in it. Most people who knew Tyne often saw her covered in paint working on projects. It wasn’t uncommon for her to paint the walls inside her house every couple months to a year. She loved change and bringing her ideas to light when something inspired her. Her work can be seen all around Lincoln, such as a few murals done in restaurants and churches. She was a talented artist and was recognized by her sculpture “Windmill across Nebraska,” which she received a second place award for. Tyne also used her art talents in other areas of her life such as creating a giant snow tiger in the front yard one winter or a totem pole of pumpkins for Halloween.

When she wasn’t using her artistic skills, she would travel. She traveled all across Europe and even lived in Japan for a year, where she taught elementary education. She had a deep appreciation of different cultures and their customs. She filled her home with all the treasures she collected amongst her adventures.

Tyne wasn’t afraid to put herself out there and embrace her uniqueness. One year she had the fun idea to paint a Christmas tree on the wall with her children. Tyne was a devoted Christian in her faith of God. She often attended bible study groups and church. She enjoyed the company of people from all walks of life and was very compassionate.

She loved life and the people she shared it with. Tyne was the second oldest of 4 children. She is survived by her mom, Patricia Ann Johnson, Sister Julie, Brothers Gregory and David, Daughters Sarah and Lacey, son Trent, Grandchildren Alex, Jarod, Nina and Mason, and loving friends. She was preceded in death by her father Leigh Johnson, Husband David William Bresnahan III and son David William Bresnahan IV.

Celebration of life will be held at 6 pm on January 28th, at Union College Seventh-day Adventist Church, Lincoln in the Heritage room.

Contributions can be made to the family for future designation.
