Obituary

Terri Jean (Moran) Heckman

May 17, 1956 - August 25, 2021

Terri Jean (Moran) Heckman, 65 (born May 17,1956), the flower garden and Christmas tree lady, was an extremely kind, loving, and compassionate human being who believed that Jesus Christ was the true Son of God, and that, by His death on the cross, all men and women can acquire redemption and eternal salvation if they repent, remain loyal, and sincerely believe.  Terri, unvaccinated, and mired with pre-existing medical conditions (asthma, diabetes, and a hyperactive auto-immune system), died August 25, 2021, from COVID-related complications after a three and one-half-week hospital stay.  Terri’s initial symptoms began on July 24, 2021, and were followed by an August 2, 2021, admission at the Bryan East Medical Center (Lincoln, NE).  Terri realized the seriousness of her situation.  Within her hospital diary, Terri wrote, “I have had a wonderful life. I have many fond memories, and, throughout my life, I have been continuously surrounded by the love of my family and extended family members and friends.”

Terri, an avid Star Trek and Star Wars fan, was a 1978 graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (Bachelor’s degree in history) and was active in the local community, e.g., Colonial Hills Neighborhood Association, Lincoln Irish Dancers, Norden Club, and Great American Stories. Terri was artistic and creative, and sincerely loved (and was loved by) the many friends and children with whom she interacted.

Terri is survived by her husband Ross Kevin HECKMAN (Lincoln), daughter Ashley Lynn HECKMAN (Lincoln), sisters Debbie (Moran) MUELLER (Pueblo, CO), Kristi MORAN (Omaha, NE), Patti (Moran) HURTADO (Phoenix, AZ), and many beloved friends and relatives.  Terri was preceded in death by her father LaRoy Noel MORAN (Bellevue, NE), mother Ruth Emelia (Henderson) MORAN (Bellevue, NE), brother Rodney MORAN (Dallas, TX), her grandparents, and many beloved friends and relatives.

I think of you and feel the warmth,
Of love that grows each day.
You’re always in my every thought,
It’s hard to stay away.
And as a candle whose life end comes,
My love doth age with time.
But hot and fervent as the sun,
My heart for you will always shine.

We will all continue to love you Bunny Hopper…..FOREVER, and a day.

Terri and I bowled on the same team for several years. She was always a lot of fun and very enthusiastic. I also attended some theater productions and community events over the years. She and I both shared our love of our Irish heritage. I will miss her a lot!

I went to BSF with Terri years ago. She was a wise women of the Lord. Her insight of Gods word was always on point. I later cut her hair for a few years before I moved. What a beautiful soul. Prayers to your family. I am sorry for your loss.
