Samuel Lee Gartner

February 25, 1961 - May 17, 2019

Samuel Lee Gartner

Samuel Lee Gartner, of Lincoln died Friday, May 17, 2019 at Bryan Medical Center East, surrounded by four of his closest friends. He was a beloved brother and father.

A Lincolnite all his life, Sam had many wonderful, lifelong chums that grew up with him in the Eastridge neighborhood who had numerous adventures with him along the way. He also developed lasting friendships with acquaintances too, who, after a time, considered him part of their family.

He worked as a custodian for several employers including Lincoln Public Schools, Ambassador Health and Tabitha Health Care. He was known especially for the care and consideration he gave to senior residents as he carried out his custodial duties. Sam was an avid gardener: he grew chili peppers and flowers, worked on his dad’s avocado farm in Escondido, California and took care of a tree farm just west of Lincoln.

Sam was born to Lois Gartner of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Lee Darrell Gartner of Lincoln. Survivors include: stepdaughter, Jamie Ursino of Springhill, Florida; twin sister, Julie Marca of Monona, Wisconsin; sister Deb Saenz of Lincoln; brother Joe Gartner of East Setauket, New York and brother Mike Gartner of Wichita, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Wendy Gartner of Coronado, California.

Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 2 pm.
