Ruth E. McClure, 101, of Columbus died peacefully Sunday April 29th at Cottonwood Place in Columbus.
A private graveside service will be held Friday May 25th at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
Ruth was born Nov. 5th 1916 in Elkhart, Indiana to Floyd and Stella (Merritt) Gulmyer. Ruth lived most of her life in Lincoln. She graduated from Lincoln High School and attended University of Nebraska (Lincoln).
Ruth married Gerald W. McClure on July 3rd 1936. She was a member of the Association of Letter Carriers Auxiliary of Lincoln, the First United Methodist Church. She worked with Blue Bird’s, Campfire Girls and Cub Scouts. Ruth was a Regional Secretary for Waddell & Reed Inc. in Lincoln for 17 years prior to retirement.
Survivors include son G. Stephen (Susan) McClure of Columbus, NE, two Grandsons, Michael S. (Karla) McClure of Longmont, CO, Derek L. (Andrea) McClure of Omaha NE, Son-in-law Robert Askey of Longmont, CO, two Step-grandsons David R. (Jennifer) Askey, of Boulder, CO. and Steven J. (Jeanneane) Askey, of Cheyenne, WY. and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald, parents, brother George Gulmyer, and daughter Jacqueline R. Askey.
Memorials are suggested to Columbus Art Council, First United Methodist Church or Federated Church.
