Dr. Roy F. “Steve” Statton

Dr. Roy F. “Steve” Statton, 97, Lincoln, passed away January 6, 2019. Born December 3, 1921 in Boone, IA to Roy Curtis and Emma (Brown) Statton. He was an ophthalmologist for over 37 years.

Steve was a member of First Plymouth Congregational Church, Executive Club, Zodiac Club, Lincoln Country Club and NE Art Association. 1st Lt. He was a pilot in Army/Air Force in WWII and flew 35 missions over Germany. He successfully landing a B-17 after a mid-air collision, and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. He attended Iowa State University and the University of Iowa.

Steve was a wonderful husband and father. He was a caring physician and an avid golfer. He married Marian Orbis on September 10, 1946 in Waterloo, IA.

Family members include wife, Marian of Lincoln; two daughters, Martha (John) Imbalzano of Elkton, MD, Rebecca Statton of Sacramento, CA; son Stephen (Linda) Statton of Lincoln; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents, sisters Ila Rayner and Lois Deakins and brothers Charles, Donald and Edward.
