Richard “Dick” C. Jennings

Richard C. “Dick” Jennings, 85, passed away on January 2, 2019. Born on July 1, 1933 to Alva and Edith (Clayton) Jennings. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950 and from there went on to receive his bachelor’s degree at Nebraska Wesleyan University then his master’s degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

After college, Dick joined the army and was stationed in Alabama. After the military, he started teaching in Thurman, Iowa, then in Fairbury, NE as a high school basketball coach, golf coach, and history teacher. After teaching, he was the vice president of American City Bureau Chicago, Illinois as a development director. Dick became the membership director for Yankee Hill Country Club in Lincoln upon retiring. He enjoyed playing golf, watching sports, and spending time with family in his free time.

Family members include daughter Shelly (Roger C.) Mundt; granddaughter, Amanda; loving companion Bobbi Dennison and her family Laura (Brad) Basye and their two daughters, Morgan and Brooke, of Kansas City, MO. Preceded in death by his parents; wife Sandra; his brother Bill Jennings; and former wife Phyllis.

Funeral service will be on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Roper and Sons South Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive, Lincoln, NE (40th and Yankee Hill).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family for future designation.
