Marjorie Anne (Swanson) Dixon Short, 87, Lincoln, died Tuesday (11-16-10). Born (2-5-23) in Creston, Iowa to Fred and Emma (Wurster) Swanson.
Marjorie graduated from Creston High School in 1941. She worked at the power plant in Mead, Nebraska for nine years. She married George Dixon in 1950 and became step-mother to his eleven year old daughter, Judee. They added to their family with the births of Valerie in 1951 and Amy in 1965. Marjorie taught Sunday School for many years and led a Bluebirds and Campfire Girls groups. She was a longtime member of Second Presbyterian Church and a founding member of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church. Marjorie and George traveled all over the western part of the country sight-seeing, visiting friends and relatives and fishing. They trekked from Washington State to South Padre Island, Texas where on their last trip, George passed away in 1984. Marjorie married Lyle Short in 1987. After a wedding trip to Australia and New Zealand, they made yearly journeys to Lyle’s ranch in Colorado. Lyle passed away in 1995.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Valerie and son-in-law Jerry Huenink, Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Lisa and husband Jerry Fugiasco, Racine, WI, Ben and wife Kari Huenink, Blair, NE, Julie Huenink and fiancé Kord Buesing, Lincoln, NE; great grandchildren, Nicholas and Lindsay Fugiasco, Racine, WI, Lillian and Hannah Huenink, Blair, NE; several cousins. Preceded in death by parents, brother Kenneth Swanson, sisters-in-law Maxine and Marie, step-daughter Judee Pastman, son-in-law Albert Pastman, daughter Amy and grandsons Jeremy and Jason Huenink.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday (11-19-10) Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, 8300 East Pointe Road. Pastor Jeff Warrick officiating. 2:00 p.m. burial in Fairview Cemetery, 84th & Adams.

Visitation 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to service time at the church.
