Jonathan Paul O’Brien

November 30, 1970 - October 9, 2023

Jonathan Paul O’Brien, 52, of Lincoln, NE, passed away October 9, 2023. He was born November 30, 1970 in Canada to James R. and Lorna Patricia (Pare) O’Brien.

Jon was devoted to his family. He was especially proud of his children, Ben and Molly, and the people they had become. Jon loved his work as an academic and faculty member in the College of Business at UNL. He was also an avid sports fan, and dedicated to his personal fitness. He will be remembered for his offbeat sense of humor and his affection for Oreo and CeCe, his two cats.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Jennifer Ryan; children, Benjamin James O’Brien and Molly Frances O’Brien; brother, Jaime O’Brien; sisters, Kim (Jack) Melanson, Theresa (John) Ellefsen, and Shelley Gerrior; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his niece, Leah (Melanson) Theall.

A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel, 245 N 27th Street, Lincoln, NE.
