Mary Kathleen Rhodes, 87, of Lincoln, passed away March 12, 2019. Born July 20, 1931 on a farm at Palisade, NE to Walter and Ruth (McCormick) Richards. Ruth Richards passed away when Mary was 6 months old. Mary was adopted by her grandmother Alma McCormick and raised by her grandmother and her aunt Amy (McCormick) Godtel.
Mary attended Palisade High School and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from UNL. She married her husband Marvin on July 26, 1953 in McCook, NE. For most of her life Mary was a homemaker, but for 12 years she worked as a research tech at University of Nebraska Lincoln.
She was a member of the Capitol City Christian Church and former member of the Lincoln Tennis Association and Lincoln Women’s Municipal Golf Association.
Family members include her husband of 65 years Marvin; sons Steven (Cheryl) Rhodes, The Villages, FL and Kelly (Tracy) Rhodes, Lincoln; daughters Kristine (Jeff) Rump, Lincoln and Beth (Brian) Cordell, Norfolk; grandchildren Aimee Craft, Lincoln, Katelyn and Rob Fabian, Omaha, Amanda and Kenn Richardson, Thornton, CO, Austin and Elizabeth Rhodes, Lincoln, Damaris and Matt Axelson, St. Paul, MN, Erin and Derek Haddock, Omaha, Elijah Rhodes, South Carolina; 6 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Marcella Rhodes, Silver Springs, MD. Preceded in death by her parents; grandmother Alma McCormick; aunt Amy McCormick Godtel; brothers-in-law Rolland, Melvin, Donald; sisters-in-law Sarah and Melda.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday (3-16-19) Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street. Prior private interment.
