Mary E. Stevens

Mary Esther Stevens, 99, of Lincoln, passed away February 11, 2019. She was born July 29, 1919 in Verdon, Nebraska to Rev. Olin and Camilla (Bangs) Wood and grew up in Colorado and western Nebraska, where her father pastored local churches. Mary was an accomplished piano player and played for the male quartet at Denver Bible Institute where she met F. Delmar. While working for Back to the Bible Broadcast in Lincoln, in 1942 she married F. Delmar after he graduated and together they pastured a church in Palmyra, NE. Called to the mission field, in 1945 they went to Ethiopia, Africa; serving 15 years under Sudan Interior Mission.

After returning with their three children from Ethiopia in 1961, they worked with the Canadian Back to the Bible office and Child Evangelism Fellowship in Winnipeg, Canada. They returned to the United States in 1968 and Mary became editor in the Promotion and Public Relations Dept. at Back to the Bible. She worked there 24 years, retiring in December of 1992.

Mary placed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age, and she and her husband were members of Lincoln Berean Church since 1968. She will be joining F. Delmar in heaven after 73 loving and happy years, ministering for the Lord.

Family members include daughters, Rebecca (Jay) Mellentin, Minneapolis, MN; Phyllis (Bill) Lehr, Lincoln, NE; Son, Darrel (Jennifer) Stevens, Cortland, NE; Grandchildren, Sara (Chance) Ferguson, San Diego, CA, and Angela (Kenneth) Miller, Brownsville, MN. Great grandchildren are Tesla Mitchell, Lauren & Brooke Ferguson, Howard & Ben Miller, great great grandchild Shina Mitchell.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
