Lyle Casper

Lyle Casper, 81, of Lincoln passed away, surrounded by two of his daughters and his youngest sister on February 1, 2020.

Lyle Casper was born on December 2, 1938 to Ehme and Vada (Campbell) Casper in Hildreth, Nebraska. He attended high school in Hildreth and was part of the state winning basketball team. After high school he received his master’s degree from Kearney Nebraska State Teacher’s College.

After college, he began his teaching career in Anselmo and then continued as a principal in the Fullerton public school system for several more years. He was a well-respected, fair educator and friend to many. Out of the union of his first marriage, he had four daughters. In 1994 he married Carolyn Saddler, to whom he was married to for 25 years at the time of his death.

In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and golfing. His later years were spent working crossword puzzles, tending to vegetable and flower gardens and watching anything on ESPN.

He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Casper, Sarah Casper, Lindsey Lamb and Anne Lauritsen (Dave), by seven grandchildren, Lily Casper, Madelyn Casper, Emma Casper, Sophia Casper, Samuel Casper, Magnus Lamb and Evie Lauritsen, his siblings, Mona Bunger, his twin Lyla Blackburn, Pat Hauner and Wendell Casper (Barb). He is proceeded in death by his parents and sister Donna Kempker.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday (2-6-20) Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Dr. (sw corner of 40th & Yankee Hill Rd.)
