Lorrette J. Hedges

Lorrette J. Hedges, 85, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away June 11, 2018. Born June 20, 1932 in Crete, NE to John and Bertha (Kunce) Kubicek. Married David V. Hedges on June 11, 1961. Retired from office management. She graduated with a degree in business from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She enjoyed Nebraska football, her Czech heritage, gardening, cooking and volunteering for several charities. She was Past Queen of the Daughters of the Nile, President of the Camp Fire Girls of Lincoln, Fund raising chair (volunteer) for the American Cancer Society. She was a fantastic cook, great organizer, loving person, charitable, smart and baked the BEST cinnamon rolls.

Family members are daughter Kathryn Hedges-Sell (Kansas City) and her son-in-law Douglas Sell; granddaughter Anna Sell; brothers Jack Kubicek and wife Evelyn Kubicek and Larry Kubicek and wife Val Kubicek; Nieces Kimberly Gamet and Lauri Tredinnick; nephews Kevin Kubicek, Ryan Kubicek and Steve Harms. Preceded in death by parents, husband David V. Hedges, brother LeRoy Kubicek.

Funeral Service : 10 am Saturday (6-16-18) Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Dr. (40th and Yankee Hill Road), Burial in Rosehill Cemetery, Waverly, Nebraska

Memorials to University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha Nebraska, Scholarship fund

Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel.

A memorial service will also be held at a later date in July at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit MO.
