Lillie Pearl Rockenbach

Lillie Pearl Rockenbach, 89, Lincoln, died Monday (3/23/20). She was born on February 24, 1931 to William and Eleanor (Lucas) Callaway at her family’s home on the Wolf/Owl Creek farm northeast of Unadilla, NE.

She attended a rural one room country school North of Unadilla, graduated as Salutatorian of her class from Unadilla High School (District 20) in 1948 and the Lincoln School of Commerce in 1950. Following graduation, she worked at SA Foster Lumber Company for two years. At this time, she met her husband Ernie Rockenbach where they were engaged and married on June 11, 1955. She then worked four and half years at the Central Electric and Gas Company in Lincoln and the Ag College.

Her oldest son Ronald Mark was born in 1956. Her and Ernie moved to Omaha and then to Papillion in 1960 where their second son Richard Lucas was born. Followed by the birth of their daughter Diane Marie in 1962 and John William in 1968.

After 34 years in Papillion, Ernie retired and they moved to Springfield, NE in 1994 and then moved to Lincoln in 2010.

Lillie was a devoted wife and mother. She was active in University Auxiliary, Methodist Church Women’s Society, Papillion Area Historical Society (PAHS), Girl Scout leader, Den mother for Cub Scouts, and volunteered at Papillion Manor and Multiple Sclerosis.

After Ernie’s death in 2014 Lillie moved to Savannah Pines in Lincoln.

Lillie is survived by her children: Ronald (Sharon) Rockenbach, Lincoln, NE; Richard (Linda) Rockenbach and son John Lucas of Las Vegas, NV; Diane (Dennis) Connot and sons Travis (Joanna) Connot and great grandsons Cooper, Logan, and Gabe; Ryan (Michelle) Connot and great grandchildren Aiden and Hailey of Valentine, NE and Jason (Kelli) Connot and great granddaughter Addie of Rapid City, SD; and John (Lana) Rockenbach of Lincoln, NE, also 2 sister in-laws Midge and Joyce Rockenbach. Along with other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ernie Dean Rockenbach; parents, William and Elenor Callaway and John and Edith Rockenbach; two sisters; Marie (Oriville) Swain and Fern (Lyle) Rodaway; and two brother-in laws; Keith (Marilyn) Rockenbach and Ralph Rockenbach and many other Aunts and Uncles.

Closed service will be held 1:00 pm, Wednesday (3-25-20) at Roper & Sons Chapel.

No visitation.
