LeRoy J. Dobbe

LeRoy J Dobbe, 90, of Lincoln, passed away on June 14th, 2020.  Born September 13, 1929 to Milton and May (Thompson) Dobbe in Huxley, IA.  LeRoy was a Lutheran Pastor his entire life.  Beginning as a Mission Developer, he established churches in Pittsburgh, PA, Farmington, NM, and Durango, CO.  In Nebraska, LeRoy served as minister at St. Paul’s-Hastings, St. Paul-Hooper, St. Ansgar-Lindsay, Salem-St. Edward, Zion and Shell Creek-Newman Grove.  In retirement, he served as interim pastor to a number of churches in Nebraska and he volunteered as an End of Life Hospice Chaplain in Ft, Meyers, Florida.  LeRoy served the Lord his entire life.

LeRoy did not serve the Lord alone.  Constantly by his side, for 67 years, was his loving wife, Ruth.  LeRoy and Ruth were married on Thanksgiving Day 1952 at 10:00 a.m. in Pittsburgh, PA.  LeRoy is survived by his wife, Ruth; children, Mark (Nadine) Dobbe of Ames, IA, Thomas (Judy) Dobbe of Lincoln, Paul Dobbe of Kearney, Phillip Dobbe of Lincoln, James (Marcy) Dobbe of Norfolk, Carol (Ray) Valles of Electric City, Washington; grandchildren, Brian Dobbe, Scott (Audrey) Dobbe, Stacey (Joel) Barjenbruch, Ryan (Dana) Dobbe, Sarah (Matt) Wall, Colton Dobbe, Megan (Mitch) Cure, Jessica (Mike) Westlake, Mikala Dobbe (Ryan Gassensmith), Ben (Whitney) McNelly, Becky McNelly (Jason Fox), Zack (Megan) McNelly, Caleb (Samantha) McNelly, Christi (Marko) Vukelic, step-grandchildren; Lynzee, Kimberly and Raymond Valles, Robert (Chantez) Valles; great-grandchildren, Cora, Brandt, Theodore and Frederick Dobbe, Celia and Warren Barjenbruch, Olivia and Sophia Dobbe, Dylan, Braeden and Kaylee Wall, George and Elizabeth Cure, Tyson Westlake, Maxwell and Quincy McNelly, Lillian and Aurora McNelly, Gabriella Glady, step-great-grandchildren; Savana Valles, Ayden Valles-Saiko, Jaylen, Payton and Kai Valles; many nieces, nephews, family, friends, and loved ones.  LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Joel Dobbe, Ken Dobbe, sisters Evelyn Christiansen, and Lois Jacobson.

A private family-only funeral service will be held at 10 am, Thursday, June 18, 2020.  Burial at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in St. Edwards, NE.

Memorial Contributions may be directed towards Southwood Lutheran Church, Palestine Lutheran Church of Huxley, IA or Huxley Historical Society.
