Obituary

Kathleen “Kay” Donis

March 31, 1926 - February 16, 2020

Kathleen “Kay” Donis

Kathleen “Kay” Donis, 93, of Lincoln passed away February 16, 2020. She was born March 31, 1926 in Palmyra, NE to Roy V. and Kathryn (McKee) Dwinell.

At nineteen, she married Harold Donis, and they had their first daughter, Kathy, the next year. As a two-year-old Kathy developed a blood disease and passed away. That was a devastating loss for Kay, and she is certain to be enjoying their reunion in heaven.

Kay and Harold accepted Christ as Savior in 1948, and they attended St. Paul Bible College, before entering the pastoral ministry in Cable, WI. Their next church assignment, Minot, ND, was also where their two daughters, Debbie and Pam, were born. Kay devoted herself to Gospel ministry her entire adult life, particularly with children and young people. Many remember her as their Bible teacher, church program leader, and spiritual encourager. She served with her husband, Rev. Harold Donis, in many churches over the years including Lincoln, NE, Bowling Green, OH, Wyandotte, MI, Ft. Wayne, IN, South Holland, IL, Monticello, MN, Wadena, MN, Minot, ND, and Cable, WI.

Upon retiring, Harold and Kay returned to their hometown of Lincoln, NE. Kay worked for Miller & Paine and Dillards, but her main interest remained ministry to children. She was an active member of First Street Bible Church of Lincoln.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Kathryn Dwinell, her daughter, Kathy Donis, brother, Roy Dwinell, Jr, and sister, Judith Hayhurst.

She has two daughters, Pamela (Jack) Ryczek, and Deborah (Bob) Anderson; three granddaughters, Megan (Dayton) DeHate, Lauren Anderson, and Rachel (Jake) Anderson; and five grandchildren, Claire, Savannah, Oliver, Josie and London.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (2-19-20) Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street with Rev. Robb Rexilius officiating.

Memorials to the family for future designation.

Visitation with family present from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Roper and Sons.
