Jaralyn Martin, 81, of North Platte passed away peacefully with family Jan 5, 2019 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was born Aug 6, 1937 in O’Neill, NE, to Alfred and Lois Martens (Kuhler).
Jaralyn graduated from Atkinson High School in 1955 and afterwards pursued a Nursing degree at Alliance School of Practical Nursing in Scottsbluff, NE. She then moved to North Platte where she started her nursing career at Memorial Hospital. Her 51 year nursing career involved various locations, teaching and leadership positions throughout North Platte. Later in her career she traveled throughout western Nebraska as a State Surveyor for Nursing Homes in which she loved to teach and inspire young Nurses and Certified Nursing assistants in providing the best nursing care to residents. She retired in 2010. Jaralyn’s love in life was teaching, nursing and spending time with her family, Husker football and golf. Jaralyn married Terrance Martin of North Platte.
She is survived by her three children Kevin Martin of North Platte, Travis Martin of Lincoln, Lora Martin of Philadelphia and loving daughter-in-laws Teresa Martin, Jennifer Martin, Cherie Blanzola. Grandchildren: Patrick Adamson, Samuel Adamson, Emily (Jon) Michl, Meighan Mertlik, Mikalah Mertlik, Miranda Martin, Mekinzie Martin, 2 great grandchildren; Hadlee and Bryson Michl. Siblings: Jaqueline Cole of New York, Jean Peace of O’Neill, Brian Martens of Fremont, Shelly Martens of United Kingdom, numerous nieces
and nephews. Preceded in death by brother Tom Martens.
Jaralyn requested cremation and a private ceremony of life with family in the Sandhills of Nebraska.
