Janice Jean Burden, born January 20, 1926, passed away peacefully in her home on February 11, 2021, at the age of 95, surrounded by friends and family.
Jan was born to Frank P. Wilson and Francis Johnston-Wilson in Stuart, Nebraska. She Attended the University of Nebraska and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She was an active member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. During her time in college, she met Paul Burden. They were married on June 6, 1948 and had two sons, Bradley and David.
Jan enjoyed many activities and traveled abroad with her husband and family. She was very active in the community and was blessed with many talents which she shared freely with others throughout her life. Those who knew Jan were blessed by her kind and generous spirit, her wit, and her ever present charm. The last 31 years of her life, Jan continued to travel, but was happiest on her acreage outside of Union, Nebraska where she moved following the death of her husband, Paul, in 1986.
Jan was preceded in death by her husband, Paul and her son Bradley. She is survived by her son, David; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In her passing she leaves a large void in the lives of family and friends left behind. Moments with Jan passed too quickly but memories of her will last forever. A celebration of Jan’s life will be held at a later date, with a burial to follow.

Dear Dave: I was sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Jan was one of the kindest persons I had ever met; always had a coke and an ice-cream for a workin’ man! I feel lucky to have known her, and she will be missed.
Have fond memories of your mother. A time when our families spent a day at the cabin which was a first experience with Nettles. And a time she drove me home with a gift of a new kitten from the cabin, a big surprise to my mother. She was a very sweet lady.
