Dennis Kay Derowitsch

Dennis Kay Derowitsch

Denny Derowitsch, 77, of Lincoln passed away and entered the presence of God on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 after a lengthy battle with emphysema. Born March 21, 1942, in Deshler, Nebraska, to Clifford and Edith Derowitsch. Retired salesman from A Street Auto Parts, former mechanic and former owner of Denny’s Champlin in the Bethany area. Member of Messiah Lutheran Church; former member of Rosemont Alliance Church, both in Lincoln.

Denny was raised in Chester and graduated from Chester High School in 1960. He attended Lincoln School of Commerce before enlisting in the United States Navy. Following boot camp, he was stationed in Washington, D.C., as a computer programmer.

While he was in Washington, he met Lorraine Perry, and they married on Oct. 12, 1963, five months after their first date. After Denny was discharged from the Navy, they moved to Lincoln, where he worked as a mechanic and then owned and operated Denny’s Champlin. After selling the business, Denny worked as a mechanic for several years before moving into sales at A Street Auto Parts.

Family members include daughter, Wendy Majorins (David); sons Mark (Rachel) and Luke (Desiree); grandchildren Jeremiah (Kate) Majorins, Zach Majorins; Hayley Majorins; Amy, Laura and Jenna Derowitsch; and Lexi Rowell, McKenzie, Katelyn and Maddie Derowitsch; great-grandchildren Isaiah, Lucy and Gideon Majorins; sisters Junette Davidson and Donna (Richard) Janowski. Preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of Denny’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 20 at Roper & Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive (South 40th St. and Yankee Hill Road).

Visitation on Sunday, May 19, with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m.
