Danny LeRoy Staehr

Danny LeRoy Staehr was born on November 30, 1952 and passed away on February 20, 2021 at the age of 68 years old. Born in York Nebraska to LeRoy and Marjorie (Schlegelmilch) Staehr. Dan graduated from the University of Nebraska Lincoln with a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Meteorology. He was an Eagle Scout.

Dan was united in marriage with Susan (Meyer) Staehr on November 15, 1974 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in York. Dan leaves a legacy to his family, brother Jody Staehr, sister-in-law Sandra Meyer, sons/daughters-in-laws Andrew (Jennifer) Staehr and William (Lacey) Staehr. Grandchildren Christian, Bryce, Ella and Hunter Staehr. Nephew Cory (Mikala) Staehr, Nieces Alexa (Micha) Kreikemeier and Whitney Staehr. Great-Nephew Beckett Staehr and Great-Niece Roux Kreikemeier. And many friends and relatives.

Dan was a member of the Nebraska National Guard Band and Communication Department. Careers as a Boy Scout Executive and Zoo Butterfly Curator were complemented by his best-known role as “Dan the Weatherman” on KLIN radio.

Dan served many roles within his church, including elder and music director. He was a member of the International Butterfly Organization and facilitated butterfly releases for weddings, funerals and cancer relay events.

Dan owned Staehr Media Services and helped in multiple ways those wanting websites and computer repair. He made many friends and supported non-profit organizations with his talents of personal communication and computer knowledge.

Proceeded in death by his parents, grandparents William (Ella Nolar) Staehr and Herbert (Elsie Hartman) Schlegelmilch and several aunts/uncles/cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Holy Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor James Irwin officiating.

Only invited guests of the family will be in attendance. Burial will be at York Cemetery, date yet to be determined.
