Obituary

Craig Kenneth Bailey

July 12, 1964 - February 14, 2018

Craig Kenneth Bailey

Craig Kenneth Bailey, 53, Omaha, was born on July 12, 1964 in Norwalk, CA to Jim and Myrna (McCumber) Bailey.

In honor of Craig who passed away peacefully on February 14, 2018, we offer the following remembrance: Craig was the youngest son of Myrna and Jim. He was adored by all. Craig’s love of life, especially the outdoors, and the way he cherished every minute of time spent with his two children, Carter and Carley was something to be admired. He loved traveling to Lincoln to spend time with his mother, brothers and sisters, having long talks with friends and was a quick wit; always sharing his big smile and heart with those he met. Craig was an avid camper, liked exploring new places with his favorite hiking stick, and a good campfire was tops on his list.

Craig graduated from East High School in Lincoln, NE in 1983. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1984 to 1988, achieving the rank of E-4 on the USS Enterprise and completed two West Pac deployments. His career spanned 26 years as a Firefighter/EMT at the Omaha Eppley Airport Authority Fire & Rescue Unit. Craig loved helping others and he did it every day, in large and small ways. He loved sharing stories of his time in the Navy, of when he found two silver dollars in the sand, and just recently mastered making the perfect brownies for the guys he worked with. Our hearts are broken without you but we will treasure that big, beautiful, caring smile of yours every day.

Surviving family members include his son, Carter James Bailey and daughters, Carley Joanne Bailey and Nicole Marti; granddaughter, Rachel; mother, Myrna Bailey; sisters, Dovi (Rock) Mueller and Christy Bailey; brothers, Scott (Diane), Steve (Joanne) and Brad (Deb); nieces & nephews; great nieces & nephews.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday (2-23-18) Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street.

Memorials to the Fallen Firefighters Fund.
