C. Harvey Traudt

C. Harvey Traudt, 83, of Lincoln, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many, passed away May 7, 2021. Born October 28, 1937 in Lincoln, NE to Charles “Hank” and Molly (Schneider) Traudt.

Harvey loved all water sports and taught all of his children and wife to ski. This family activity included taking the family and friends to the Lake of the Ozarks for 20 consecutive summers, and most summer weekends to either Pawnee or Branched Oak, for great picnicking, and skiing from Noon to dusk.

Harvey and Kay have been Nebraska Football season ticket holders since 1962. They traveled to many away games and bowl games with good friends. A kick-off was never missed, including the past Spring Game on May 1.

Harvey was a friend to many and always had a kind thing to say about others. He loved telling stories, jokes, and sharing a good laugh. He somehow always found the time to run a business, be a loving husband, love and support his kids and their activities, and care for his parents and in-laws.

His friendships meant the world to him, and he deeply appreciated those who would call to check in on him, right up to his last day. Those conversations always put a smile on his face, even if he wasn’t able to say much.

Harvey truly hit his stride when his grandchildren were born, sharing his love, time and support as their biggest cheerleader. He was so proud of all six. He lit up when they called or walked into a room, and spoke of them often. He will continue to watch over all of his loved ones, including his newest grandchild, and now, great granddaughter!

Harvey graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954, was a lifetime member of Heritage Presbyterian Church, Lincoln Elks Lodge #80 (47 yrs), East Lincoln Masonic Lodge #210 (50+ yrs), President JayCeeNiles ,an Eagle Scout at 13 yrs old, he taught lifesaving and swimming at Boy Scout Camp Cornhusker, and was a Junior Chamber of Commerce Vice President.

Harvey was former owner of Texaco Service Stations, and was involved with restaurant management at East Hills Country Club, Tony & Luigi’s, Valentino’s and The Legionnaire Club.

Family members include his wife, of 60 years on May 26, Kay; daughters Tracy Timpone (Nicholas), Mesa, AZ and Tammy Traudt Finnerty (Barry), San Diego, CA; son Shawn Traudt, Lincoln; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces; and sister-in-law Beverly Traudt.
