Annita Christiansen, originally for Las Animas, CO currently of Lincoln, NE passed away on November 18, 2020. Born September 3, 1936 to Stewart Smith and Nona Worthley in Las Animas, CO.
She attended the University of Colorado, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in education. She worked as a teacher for many years in Holdrege and Geneva, NE.
After relocating to Lincoln, Annita began what would be decades of service caring for the elderly. Her job was at Milder Manor Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide and, eventually an LPM. She also worked as a nurse at Bent County Memorial Nursing Home in Las Animas and was recognized by the country for her service there.
Annita was known for her sharp wit, intelligence, and kind heart.
She is survived by her sister, Susan Seal (Smith); son, Scott Christiansen; daughters, Darla Ferrara (Christiansen) and Katrina Christiansen; grandchildren, Jacob, Ben, and Zachary Christiansen, Ashley Ferrara, Lindsay Keppler (Ferrara). She is preceded in death by her parents Stewart and Nona Smith, sister Virginia Mitchell (Smith), and brother George Smith.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed towards the Alzheimer’s Association.
