Obituary

Andrew M. Fordham

May 22, 1989 - April 12, 2018

Andrew M. Fordham

Andrew M. Fordham, 28, of Lincoln, passed away on April 12, 2018. He was born May 22, 1989 in Winter Park, Florida. Drew moved to Lincoln, NE with his parents, John and Mary Fordham, in 1990.

Throughout his youth, Drew excelled in golf, tennis, soccer, and baseball; however, his favorite things to do included going to work with his dad, learning to cook with his mom, and being with his friends and family. Everyone adored him for his contagious smile and tender heart.

Drew was a true gentleman from the get-go. He was a fierce protector, especially of the neighborhood girls, paving the way for a few touchdowns or a spot in the boys’ only club. Drew’s smile, head nod, and classic Fordham pointer finger wave greeted every neighbor, friend, golfer and passing car he encountered.

Drew graduated from Lincoln Southeast High School then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, earning a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Sociology. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Drew was genuine and could be counted on. His subtle sense of humor and hilarious stories will certainly never be forgotten.

After graduation Drew went to work for State Distributing Company. Drew was a dedicated, hard-working co-worker and his customers appreciated his outstanding work ethic and attention to detail. Drew was a member of the Nebraska Craft Brewery Board and the Associated Distributors of Nebraska. He attended First Plymouth Church in Lincoln and was on his way to rivaling Mary in the kitchen, which is no easy feat. Drew’s kind soul and grilled shrimp will be missed by all fortunate enough to know.

Drew is survived by his parents, John and Mary Fordham, his brother Britt Fordham, and his dog, Chippy, all of Lincoln; his paternal grandparents, Wyndell and Barbara Fordham – Lecanto, FL; Aunts and Uncles, Dan & Sonya Fordham – Aspen, CO; William and Amy Poffenbarger – Middletown, MD; Tom Collins of Omaha; and Tim Collins of Denver; and many cousins and great-aunts, great-uncles and many friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Carol and Bert Collins – Ralston, NE and his cousin Fordham Lee Poffenbarger – Middleton, MD.

Drew’s heart was so full every time he loved up on Mary’s Lucy and his Chippy, as were theirs. Memorial contributions may be made to Hearts United for Animals 73420 638 Avenue Auburn, NE 68305.

Celebration of life at 11:00 am Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at First-Plymouth Congregational Church, 2000 D Street with Reverend Dr. Jim Keck officiating.
