Aina Ozols

Aina Ozols, 96, Lincoln, passed away February 15, 2019. She was born April 19, 1922 in Lubeja, Latvia, to Rudolfs and Alide (Liepins) Liepins. After graduating from School of Commerce in Riga, Aina worked as an accountant. In 1944, she had to flee the homeland with her family in front of the advancing Soviet Army, which occupied Latvia. She came to the United States in 1949. For many years Aina worked at Russell Stover candy factory, then at UNL as custodian. Following her retirement she worked at Harris Laboratories.

Aina was a member of the United Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a life member of Daugavas Vanagi, Inc. Her interests were music, theater, reading and rose gardening.

Family members include her son Andris (Andy) and brother Arijs (Art) Liepins of Lincoln; daughter-in-law Nancy Ozols of Seattle, WA; granddaughters Sherri Ozols and Amy Evans of Seattle, WA; great-grandchildren Lucas, Gavin, Abigail and Gabriel. Preceded in death by her parents; husband Zanis; son Gatis of Seattle and brother Imants of Sydney, Australia.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (2-27-19) United Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3300 ‘C’ Street, Lincoln, NE.

Memorials in lieu of flowers to the United Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church, Daugavas Vanagi, Inc. or Hospice Community Care of Nebraska.

No Visitation.
