Valda Jaunzemis

Valda Jaunzemis, 73, of Lincoln, passed away on September 9, 2018. Born April 8, 1945, to Kristaps and Zinaida (Michailovskis) Jaunzemis in Ravensburg, Germany. She came to the United States in 1950, with her mother and brother Janis.

She graduated from Lincoln High School and took a job with the Mills Insurance Agency, later called Continental Western Insurance Company. For many years she has been employed by the USDA Soil Conservation Service.

Valda was a member of the United Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lincoln, and life member of Daugavas Vanagi Inc. She loved traveling with her brother and mother, including the Holy Land and Tobago Isle. In her pastime she enjoyed working on crossword puzzles.

Valda is remembered by many friends in the Latvian community. Preceded in death by her parents and brother.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday (9-17-18) United Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3300 C Street. Burial in Wyuka Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the church, or Daugavas Vanagi, Inc.

Visitation noon- 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Roper and Sons, 4300 ‘O’ Street.
