Susan Elaine Hughes, 59, of Eagle, NE passed away on April 7, 2018 in Cook, NE. Born to Joseph and Ida (Brusca) Macchietto on January 18, 1959 in Omaha, NE. Susan attended college at UNO and earned a Bachelors degree in Business. She was united in marriage to David Hughes on August 1, 1980 in Omaha, NE. They resided in Eagle, NE and together had two children, Joshua, born in 1981, and Jennifer, born in 1985. Susan was the office manager for American Drywall. She was also the bookkeeper for her husband’s business, Durabuilt Transmissions.
Susan loved to spend her weekends at her and Dave’s cabin in Cook, NE with her family and friends. She enjoyed the outdoors, cooking, shopping, dogs, traveling with friends, and her golf cart rides at the cabin. Her strongest love was for her family, and cherished her time with her three grandchildren. She touched the lives of many with her infectious smile, kind heart, and delight for life.
Susan is survived by her husband, Dave, of Eagle, NE; son, Josh (Shannon) Hughes of Lincoln, NE; daughter, Jen Hughes of Eagle, NE; grandchildren, Kelton (11), Braelyn (9), and Aubree (3) Hughes of Lincoln, NE; parents, Joe and Edie (Ida Brusca) Macchietto of Omaha, NE; sisters, Karen Deheer of Baltimore, MD, and Christine (Steve)Johnson of Valley, NE; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, John Fitzgerald of Omaha, NE; mother-in-law, Velda Hughes of Bellevue, NE; sister and brother-in-law, Shelley (Ralph) Finch of Bellevue, NE; sister and brother-in-law Faun (Gary) Weeks, Scribner, NE.
Proceeded in death by her sister, Terri Fitzgerald, and father-in-law, Richard Hughes.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday (4-13-18) Cross the Line Church, 5925 Adams Street with Pastor Gary McLaughlin officiating. Burial in Fairview Cemetery.
