Stephen E. Sim

Stephen E. Sim, 66, of Lincoln, passed away September 16, 2017. Born August 13, 1951 in Nebraska City, NE to Eugene F. and Mattie Mae (Handley) Sim. Stephen was a Direct Support Professional for Community Alternatives of Nebraska. Graduate of Peru State College with Bachelor degrees in Secondary Education and Business Administration. He was a member of St. Mark’s on the campus Episcopal Church, involved in Special Olympics and Boy Scouts, Aging Partners Senior Center where he played pitch. He enjoyed Doctor Who, Star Trek, Salt Dogs baseball, Beatles, John Denver, Titanic, and cooking. He was very passionate about environmental issues and was very active with humanitarian social issues. His family and friends were very important to him as well as his cat Max who was his longtime companion.

Family members include sister, Mary Sim Barcelos (Joseph Debebe); brother, Stanton Sim; niece, Mattie Sim Barcelos; nephew, Nile Debebe; numerous other extended family members and friends. Preceded in death by parents.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday (9-21-17) St. Mark’s on the campus Episcopal Church, 1309 R Street.

Memorials to: Special Olympics, Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach, or homeless shelter.

Visitation: 2-8 p.m. Wednesday with family present from 6-8 p.m. at Roper and Sons, 4300 ‘O’ St.
