Rodger Warner Golter

November 13, 1946 - September 1, 2017

Rodger Warner Golter

Rodger Warner Golter, 70, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2017, surrounded by his family. Born in Orchard, Nebraska to Werner and Joanne (Lindberg) Golter on November 13, 1946.

Rodger delivered mail to the residents of Southeast Lincoln for over 27 years as a carrier with the United States Postal Service. Prior to his service in the USPS, Rodger spent three years as a medic in the United States Army. After retiring from the USPS in 2010, Rodger quickly developed an obsession with the game of golf. Whether it was trawling neighborhood garage sales for used clubs or participating in the Phillips Golf Group, the game consumed a significant part of Rodger’s life. It was this love for the game of golf (and perhaps the urging from Sheri), that drove the Golter’s to purchase a winter home on a golf course in Tucson, Arizona, nearby where Rodger’s older brother, Michael Golter, lives.

A ‘Jack of all trades’, Rodger was always the first call when someone in the family had an issue around the house. He was a loving father to his two children, Sarah (Chris) Linden and Gus (Amy) Golter, and a supportive spouse to his wife of 47 years, Sheri (Sebade) Golter, all of whom survive Rodger. He was a proud ‘Papa’ to his four grandchildren: Gavin, Ezrah, Lucah and Ryan. He remained throughout his life close with both of his siblings, Michael (Terri) Golter and Carla (Robert) Hinken.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Rodger was, above all else, a beautiful human being, who those close to him would confirm, was always there for his friends and family. He never turned down a request for assistance, even as his health declined. A man of few words, Rodger expressed his love for others by expending that most precious resource, time.

Services will be held Thursday, September 7, 2017, at 11:00 am at Roper & Sons Chapel, 4300 O Street, Lincoln. No visitation, cremation.

All memorials should be made to Defeat GBM Research Collaborative, 55 Chapel Street, Suite 200, Newton, MA 02458(www.defeatGBM.org).
