February 28, 1951 - November 22, 2017

Rod Halsted

Rod Halsted, of Lincoln, NE, age 66, passed away November 22, 2017 following a battle with cancer. Rodrick Alan Halsted born Feb. 28, 1951 in Lincoln, son of William and Oretha (Littlejohn) Halsted. Graduated from Lincoln High School in 1969 and obtained a Bachelor degree from Hamilton College. Rod worked for Lincoln Telephone Co/Windstream Communications and was union steward for the communications Workers of America Local 7470. Following retirement, he worked in the human services field. He served as a CASA volunteer, and volunteer for Special Olympics. He was past president of Telephone Pioneers Association, and member of Capitol City Footprinters. Rod enjoyed spending time with family, especially his young granddaughters; watching sports; and bowling.

Survivors include his sons, Nick and wife Lisa Halsted; Arron and wife Kayla Halsted; granddaughters, Morgan and Andersyn Halsted, all of Lincoln; sisters, Barb Christner and husband Bob of Mt Ayr, IA; Laura Sheldon of Lincoln; Bev Baltensperger and husband Steve of Nebraska City; brothers, Steve and wife Pat; Brad and partner Andrea Shemek of Lincoln; many nieces and nephews. Rod was preceded in death by his parents; brother in law, Scott Sheldon and nephew, Brian Christner.

Celebration of life will be held Friday Dec. 8th, 2:00 pm at Roper & Sons Mortuary, 4300 O St., Lincoln.

There will be no viewing or visitations. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date in Camp Creek Cemetery near Nebraska City.

Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.
