Robert E. Sherman

Robert (Bob) Edward Sherman, age 90 of Lincoln died January 31, 2018 Homestead Care Center after a brief battle with cancer. Bob was born November 27, 1927 in Lincoln to John E. and Barbara E. (Brochu) Sherman. He was a 38-year retired US Army Officer, committed husband, father and friend to everyone; avid bridge and pitch player; and, golfer.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ruth Marilyn (Meyer) Sherman; son, Robert Steven Sherman and step son, Scott Wiegert. Survivors include his second wife, Audrey (Ritter) Wiegert She100rman; son, J. F. A. Sherman, both of Lincoln; daughter, Patti Lynn (Sherman) Wilkinson and husband, Robert Wilkinson of Tampa, FL; step son, Mike Wiegert and wife Linda; step daughter, Cletia (Wiegert) Price and husband Bill; and step son, Gregg Wiegert all of Lincoln; grandchildren, John E. Sherman and wife Allie of Long Island, NY; Sarah E. (Sherman) Schroeder and husband, Charlie Chuck Schroeder; Matthew Scott Sherman all of Lincoln; Katharine Marlys Sherman of Plymouth, MN; Robbie Sherman of Dallas, TX; Christy (Sherman) Hargrave and husband, David Hargrave of Tyler, TX; Rachelle (Johnson) Gilstrap and her husband, Jason Gilstrap of Easily, SC; and Andrew Johnson of Fairfax, SC and eleven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ Church, 3500 Sheridan Blvd in Lincoln with burial in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery. Lunch will follow at the church.

Visitations will be 2:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at Roper & Sons Mortuary, 4300 O Street in Lincoln, with the family greeting friends from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
