Norma Anne Bailey, age 95, passed away peacefully October 22, 2017 in Rio Rancho, NM. Born in Lincoln, NE, May 14,1922 to Irish immigrants Elizabeth McAfee Williamson and Hugh Williamson, Norma was a lifelong resident of Lincoln until her final year, when an injury resulted in her move to NM to be closer to her daughters.
She married Fred H. Bailey, Jr. in September 1942 in Lincoln. They were stationed in Oklahoma and Maine after the war. In 1953 they returned to settle in Lincoln. Fred continued his long career with the Nebraska Air National Guard.
Marriage to a military pilot often resembled a single parent family; raising four children became Norma’s career and one she did with all her heart. Divorcing in 1966, Norma and Fred’s love and friendship endured and they remarried in 1999 celebrating what would have been their 57th anniversary. Through the years she enjoyed membership in Eastern Star, Second Presbyterian Church and caring for her many beloved four-footed companions. She is survived by her children Fred III (Michele), Victoria (Rick Keller), Robert (Marjorie), & Cheryl (Lance Freeman), 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren & 2 great great-grandchild and her cat Missy. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred, dear sister Lillian, baby sister Vivian.
She is much at peace returning home to Wyuka Cemetery where she was raised, as her father was a former superintendent of the cemetery. Her family is grateful that she will rest in such a special place. She will be greatly missed by all.
Private family service will be held Nov 29, 2017 at Wyuka.
