Naomi Marrs

Naomi Marrs

Naomi Marrs, of Lincoln, passed away December 9, 2017. Born June 19, 1921, in Neligh, to Ruth and Wayne VanPatter. Naomi worked at J.C. Penny store for four years before moving on as a stenographer in the office of Attorney R. M. Kryger for two years. In 1947 she married Ward Marrs and for the next 10 years she worked as a bookkeeper for Marrs Ford Sales and financial secretary at Methodist Church in Tilden, as well as financial secretary at First Presbyterian Church in Lyons. She was a member of P.E.O Chapter CX in Lyons and Chapter IL in Lincoln, volunteered at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 14 years, enjoyed golf, bridge, knitting and spending time with family and friends.

Family members include daughters, Dawn (Keith) Eggers, Marla (David) Stahl; brother, Duane (Jolene) VanPatter; sister-in-law, Arlene Francis; grandchildren, Stacey Marrs, Niki (Jimmy) Hollingsworth, Heather (Alfonso) Regalado, Brent (Amber) Eggers, Drew (Joanna Christiansen) Stahl, and Courtney (Alex McBride) Stahl; eight great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Preceded in death by husband, a son, parents and two brothers.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 16, at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Neligh.

Memorials may be given to the family for future designation.
