Leona Mae Shields, 88, of Lincoln, passed away February 27, 2018. Born March 22, 1929 in Arnold, NE to Chris and Etta Irene (Scattergood) Christensen. Ret. 1997, Bill Status Clerk for the Nebraska State Legislature. Member of the First United Methodist Church, Faculty Wives of Teacher’s College at UNL, Wally Byam Caravan Club International (WBCCI), lifetime member of Lincoln Public Schools P.T.A. and served as president for 2 years at Brownell School.
Family members include her husband, Roscoe L. Shields, Jr.; sons, Mark (Kay) Shields, Omaha, and Martin (Judy) Shields, Lincoln; daughter, Christi (Steve) Dermann, Aurora, CO; grandchildren, Stephanie (Scott) Hansen, Kelly (Andrew) Ross, Molly (Atlee) Butzirus, Patrick, Dayne, and Brad Shields, Caley (Ben) Cordova, and Emily (Charles) Steele; great-grandchildren, Ava, Harper, Banon, Anora, and Roscoe; brother, Loren (Judy) Christensen, Lincoln; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Patrica (Jerry) Delhay, Eagle, William (Nancy) Shields, Gladstone, MO, and Maria (David) Polly, North Pole, AK; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Marion Rakow.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2018. First United Methodist Church, 2723 N. 50th Street with Pastor Larry Moffet officiating and a luncheon to follow. Burial of ashes at a later date in the Fort McPherson Cemetery, Maxwell, NE.
