Jennifer J. Grosse

Jennifer J. (Wilhelmi) Grosse was born on August 26, 1961 in Fargo, ND and passed away December 7, 2017 in Lincoln, NE. She was the first born child of Kenneth and Lanetta (Brooks) Wilhelmi. Her brother, Jon, completed the family in 1966. Jennifer spent her early years growing up in Langdon, ND where her childhood relationships with her cousins on both sides of her family were nurtured and she treasured them throughout her life. She considered Langdon her home and took great pleasure in visiting this hometown over the years.

Jennifer’s world was opened up when her family moved to Tunisia and lived there for five years. Here she met a lifelong friend, Hala Al-Bassam and became an extension of the family.

In 1972, the Wilhelmi family returned to the US and settled in Lincoln, where she attended Mickle Middle School and graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School. She met her friend Denise Scott in middle school, where they attended catechism together at St. John’s. Jennifer worked as a Lifeguard at Woods Pool in Lincoln, where she met another lifelong friend, Debbie Rye. She made several good friends during her high school and college years including Lanelle Poole, Karen Hamilton and Janet Novak. These friendships would sustain her through the remainder of her life, and she forged close relationships with the extended families of these friends.

After receiving her Bachelors of Science degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Jennifer entered nursing school and she spent most of her professional life as an RN in the neonatal intensive care units at Lincoln General Hospital and Bryan East Medical Center.

Jennifer married Duane Grosse on September 1, 1991. To this union a son, Grant Jonathan Grosse was born on September 28, 1998. Gabriel (Gabe) William joined the family in January 2006.

Jennifer loved her role as a mother and a wife, and spent a lot of time cooking, crafting and planning fun activities for her family and friends. Her love of Volkswagon Beetles was a signature trademark

Jennifer is survived by her husband, 2 sons, aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends and fellow nursing colleagues. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, and grandparents.
