Janelle Schmale

Janelle Claire (Warnsholz) Schmale, 67, lost her brave battle with cancer on Saturday, November 10, 2018. Janelle was born January 14, 1951 to George & Leona (Ahrens) Warnsholz, and grew up in Malcolm & Lincoln. She attended Lincoln Lutheran Junior High and graduated Lincoln Northeast in 1969. She also attended St John’s College in Winfield, KS. Janelle married Roger Schmale on October 15, 1971 and had 2 children (Gary and Jody). Raising her family, she lived in Bellwood and David City, NE. She worked at David place and St Joseph’s Villa as a CNA, and managed the Shop E-Z convenience store. She was the FHA (now FCCLA) Parent of the Year 1993-94. In 1994, Janelle moved back to Lincoln, where she worked at and managed a Kwik-Shop, was a CNA at Madonna Rehabilitation, a receptionist at Green’s Furnace and Plumbing, co-owner of the Tearoom at Studioville, and at Cloverleaf Suites (formerly Chase Suites).

Janelle was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Garland Unit 369, Redeemer Lutheran Church WOR and LWML, the University Place Business Association, & served as the President of both the UPCO Organization and Friends of White Hall Mansion. She like to crochet, needlepoint, help military veterans, and take care of her family.

Janelle is survived by her daughter: Jody Schmale, son: Gary, his girlfriend Stacie Schlisner and her children Tara, Brayden, Cadie, and Carlie, all Lincoln NE; brother Merle (Lois) Warnsholz, Davenport IA; nieces: Lori (Jeff) Whalen, Utica, IL and Jill (Matt) Schmitzer, Bettendorf; aunt Geraldine Brigham, Seward, NE; uncles Merlin (Bert) Ahrens, Palm Coast, FL and Marvin Schutlz, Seward, NE; as well as numerous cousins, extended family, and friends.

Funeral services will be 10am, Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 510 S 33 St, Lincoln. Interment will be Wyuka Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3-8pm Friday with family receiving friends from 5-7pm, at Roper and Sons, 4300 O St, Lincoln.

Memorials may be directed to the family for a Nurses scholarship.
