Frederick Wilhelm Bull, Jr.

Frederick W. (Fritz) Bull, Jr was born on May 28, 1934 in Omaha, Neb. and died November 15, 2017 in Lincoln, Neb.  He was the fifth child of Frederick W. (Bill) Bull, Sr. and Katherine (Koch) Bull. He grew up helping on the family farm near Elkhorn, Neb and attended Elkhorn Public schools, where he was a member of the 1949 original football team and played legion baseball.  He attended Doane College in Crete, Neb, graduating in 1955 with a degree in Education.  He took his first teaching and coaching position in Nebraska City, Neb in 1955.  He was inducted into the United States Army in 1956 and served until 1958.  His next teaching and coaching position was in Waterloo, Neb where he was honored as the Nebraska state HS football coach of the year in 1960.  His final teaching and coaching position was in Eagle, Neb where the family lived until 1992.is

He married Beverly Keiser on Feb. 28, 1959 and to this union four children were born, Lanelle (Jim) Poole, Lindy Hoyer, Lisa (Dick) Olesen and Carter (Tamara) Bull.  He worked for University Publishing Company in Lincoln and then various other vocations, including substitute teaching, business owner and retired from the Nebraska Department of Corrections in 2004.  Fritz and Bev moved to Crete, Neb in 1992, where he resided until 2001.  He was married to Rogene Godeker from 2001-2012.

Fritz loved all athletics and in particular Nebraska Cornhuskers, Doane Tigers and St.Louis Cardinals.  He loved watching his grandsons, Joe and Justin play baseball, football and basketball, and his granddaughters Tressa, Samantha, Rebecca, Paige and Olivia in their sporting events.  Recently his grandson Quinten played football in full pads, a dream come true for Grandpa Fritz to see this next generation playing the sport he loved the most.  He could be seen at dance and choir performances with several other grandchildren and learned to appreciate the sport of dance with grandson, Marc.

He never lost his love for the farm and would attend the Camp Creek Threshers show every year with his good friend, Gary Johnson.  He enjoyed playing cards with friends and the game of 31 with his grandchildren.  He kept up on current events and read his newspapers faithfully.  He had a solid faith, baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church and was an active member of several churches.  He enjoyed his time at Sheridan Lutheran where he found a good church family.

Fritz was a sixty year member and past Master of Waterloo Lodge NO. 102.

He is survived by his four children; grandchildren, Joseph (Nicole) Poole, Justin (Laura) Poole, Kerrin (Christopher Packard), Victoria, Micaela, Rachel and Marc Frederick Hoyer, Tressa, Samantha, Rebecca, Quinten, Paige and Olivia Bull; great grandchildren Brooke Blunt, Jameson, Carson and Joey Bear Poole; Sister, Adelyne Backhuus, brother in law Don Keiser and sister in law, Jaris Nelson; special family, Jennifer, Duane, Grant and Gabe Grosse, Kristi, Todd, Keaton and Macey Meyers; numerous nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly; brothers, Richard and Wilbur Bull and sister, Dolores Evey, 2 nephews and 1 niece.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m, Tuesday (11-21-17) at Sheridan Lutheran Church, 6955 Old Cheney Road, Lincoln, Neb., with lunch being served immediately following the service. Visitation with family from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, (11-20) with a Masonic service starting at 7 p.m. at Roper and Sons Funeral Home, 4300 “O” Street.  Private family burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Omaha.

Memorials may be directed to Sheridan Lutheran Church or Doane University Athletic Fund.
