Eugene C. Grabow, 83, of Lincoln, passed away on October 14, 2017. He was born to Emiel and Clara (Gramentz) Grabow in Kasota, Minnesota, on September 6, 1934. Eugene married Judith Swanson. He retired as a social worker for the State of Nebraska. In his lifetime, he was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 3.
Eugene’s life was devoted to the care and wellbeing of those with mental illness, managing community mental health centers in Minnesota and Nebraska and last worked at Lincoln Regional Center. He graduated from Mankato State University, received his Master’s Degree from University of Nebraska Lincoln and his Ph.D. from Penn State University.
He is survived by his wife, Judith; children, Lyndon Grabow, Lincoln, Kari (Matthew) Bachinski, Erlanger, Kentucky, Daniel Lautenbach, St. Paul, Minnesota, Kristin Lautenbach (Jeremiah Reis), Lincoln, Tricia Lautenbach, Lincoln, and Stephen Lautenbach, Lincoln; grandchildren, Genevieve, Cody, Colton, Connor, Savannah; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Evelyn and Alice, and a granddaughter, Isabella Bachinski.
Funeral service: 2:00 Wednesday (10-18-17) at Roper and Sons, 4300 ‘O’ Street, Lincoln. Burial will take place at Wyuka Cemetery following the service.
